About Me
My name is Jillian and I am a certified PEMF practitioner and a certified equine sports massage therapist. I graduated from The University of New Hampshire in 2013 with my degree in Equine management/animal science. From there, I worked closely with the Eventing community. I have spent winters in Ocala, FL and my favorite part was watching the mechanics of each horse. I have since then studied more in-depth about the muscle groups and their responsibilities. That is how I was lead to sports massage. I became certified through the oldest massage program in the country. Which leads me to my boy, Peppermint Zip. He is a 10 year old OTTB that I purchased right off the track. It has been such a gift being able to see his body recover and transform over the past year due to massage therapy. I have studied and practiced countless hours and I still feel I learn something new daily. I recently took the dive and purchased my first PEMF Magnawave machine. I am certified to treat horses, pets, cattle, and humans. It would be a privilege to work on your horses/pets!

Why is PEMF important?
For equestrians, PEMF therapy offers an ability to proactively 'kick start' the healing process, minimizing downtime due to injury or illness. When used as part of a cool down routine, PEMF can also assist in facilitating post-work recovery and reduce the soreness associated with muscle strain and lactic acid build up.
How often should a horse receive PEMF?
I recommend at least three sessions of PEMF unless there is a specific goal with the client; ex. Injury or wound healing. I believe PEMF is a regular therapy, especially when it comes to Equine athletes. Even if the horse/animal doesn't have an injury it's a great took for maintenance and it a great holistic preventative treatment.

The frequency of massages depend on the horses' workload. A horse in heavy work should be massaged every two weeks. Moderate work should be every three to five weeks light work should be every 5-8 weeks. This can be discussed at your first appointment.

Payment is due immediately after the completion of massage. Payment is accepted in the form of cash or check. There will be a $35 fee for any bounced checks. There is also a $.62 charge per mile 30 minutes outside of Phillipston, MA
Pre-massage
To achieve the full effect, the horse's muscles should be warmed up. This can be done so by a 5 -10 minute walk prior. The horse should be brushed and free of debris.

I get it, things happen! If you need to cancel your appointment within 24 hours of service, you will still be responsible for the cost of the massage. If you need to reschedule, there will be a $20 rescheduling fee.
Post massage
After the massage the horse should be hand walked again for about 10-15 minutes. They should have light work for 24 hours post massage. As your horse becomes less reactive, the massages can be spread out every 8-12 weeks.
Travel
I will travel 30 miles from Phillipston, MA. 25-50 miles I require a minimum of 3 horses OR additional fee. 50+ miles will require additional fees.
FYI
I am not a substitute for veterinary care. If your horse has extreme discomfort the treatment will end and you will need to consult your veterinarian. Some horses may be sore for the first couple of days after a massage/PEMF, especially if it's their first one.
